A waterside Worker named Robert Johnson sustained injuries to his ribs, also a split knee, when rescuing a girl who fell off the-Devonport ferry wnerf to-day, in the holiday rush. The girl missed her footing and fell into' the 'har* bour. Johnson dived in, and with the assistance of another man, brought her to safety. In doing so he must have collided with a pile supporting the wharf. A boy named Michael Casey was crushed between' two trucks while playing with some companions to-day. One leg was badly crushed, and one rib broken. His condition is critical. TIMARTJ, 26th December. A motor accident occurred to-night, a young woman named. Crisp being taken to the hospital suffering from shock. It appears that a young man without authority asked three domestics at Worry's Hotel to have a ride in a car which the owner had left standing outside the hotel. The party had gone about a mile, and the car was rounding a bay on the main road when ib capsized. The young man has not been seen since, and it is rumoured that he bolted in "distress over tho accident and threw himself into the sea. It is understood that none of the girls Was seriously hurt.
