RIFLE SHOOTING

TRICKY TRENTHAM WINDS Saturday's trains to Trentham were, well filled with riflemen. The weather, although fine, was not all that it might have been. The wind was troublesome, and ih the afternoon somo of the scores were poor ai a result. The damp ground was the cause of complaint. It appears that some of the drains have been blocked, and the mounds at the various ranges are too wet for comfort. KARORI CLUB. At Trentham th© Karori Rifle Club carried out teams' shooting. All the club juniors were carefully coached by the captains of the respective teams, and some very gratifying results were obtained. The _ competition wa's very keen, and resulted in a very close finish, DeputyPresident Judd's team just getting home by two points from Rifleman J. BurnVs team. Only twehty points separated the whole six teams. Rifleman F. W. Chihg, who is in splendid form just now, topped the list again with a well-made 93. He was closely followed by President H. Marshall and Rifleman E. Coady, each With 92. In a sweepstake held in conjunction with the match, the prizes wero won by the above-mentioned. Next Saturday the club's Nos. 1 and 2 teams, of ten men, will meet the Suburbs Club in the annual match at Miramar. The No. 3 team of ten will meet tho A Squadron, 6th Mounted Rifles, at Trentham.
