CHRISTMAS FAIR

'A' Christmas fair in connection with the Donald M'Lean-6treet Primitive Methodist Church was opened yesterday afternoon by the Hon. C. M. Luke. There was a large attendance, and good business was done. During the evening the N«wtown Orchestra played several selections, Mr. Garnet Sims and two of %i& pupils gave an exhibition of weight lifting, ' and Master " Elliott performed «ome conjuring acte, The stallholders were;-~Phvin stall, Mesdames Pearson and Luke; fancy, Mrs. Colryer and Miss Oxley ; flower, Mm. Brooks and Misses Ctrmmrns; gentlemen's, Mr. P. Collyer; lolKeS/ Mrs. Sharpe and Misses Thomas and Fox. The Christmas tree was in ■ charge of Misses Embury, Stephens, and Mann. The fair will be continued this evening.
