PAY IN THE NAVY
IMMEDIATE INCREASES TO BE MADE THREEPENCE PER DAY FOR SAILORS AND MARINES CORRESPONDING INCREASES IN HIGHER RANKS. Bf Telegrtph.- Press Association.— Copyright. (Received December 5, 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, 4th December. The First Lord of the Admiralty (Mr. Winston Churchill) states that there will be an immediate increase in the pay of the men of the Navy. After six years' service A.B.s, firstclass stokers, and privates of marines will receive an increase of 3d daily; petty officers and non-commissioned in the marines 4d per day, and for each good conduct badge Id. Corresponding increases are made in the higher rank. The total cost of the increases will be £386,473 annually.
