AMERICANISATION OF CANADA
PREVENTED BY FRENCHCANADIANS. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— »,6fyrigar. (Received December 6, 11 a.m.) TORONTO, 4th December. Mr. Henri Bourassa, M.L.A., states that only the French-Canadians have prevented the Americanisation of Canada. The prevalence of the French language formed ( the chief barrier against the absorption of American ideas and methods. 'If tho English language wa4 forced upon the French-Canadian the result would be not to Anglicise him but to Americanise him.
