Ward, from Auckland. DEPARTURES. December s^Arapawa, S.s. (2.23 p.m.), 2GB tons, Sawyers, for Wanganul. FROM SAX FRANCISCO. Just about 12.30 o'clock to-day the Royal Mail steamer Aorangi ahchored in the stream from San Francisco, and berthed at No. 2, Queen's Wharf a little over an hour and a half later. She left San Francisco at 11.30 a.m. on Wednesday, 13th November, and called in at Papeete and. Rarotonga en route. The vessel left the latter port at 6.30 p.m. on Thursdaj, 28th November, and arrived here as above. Fine weather was experienced throughout the trip, which altogether was a very enjoyable one. The usual deck sports made the time pass quickly. On Saturday, 30th November, some particularly keen strUßßles took place, especially in an obstacle race, which was won by Mr. G. Finch, a passenger booked to Dunedin. Much interest was taken in the deck golf tournament, held on the 29th and 30th November and 2nd December. This was won by Mrs. McLeod "and Mr. G. E. Thompson, both Sydney passengers. Much of the cargo brought by the vessel consists of fruit, a large quantity of this being shipped at the Islands. In addition, there are 2720 cases canned fruit from California, 3251 packages of dried fruits, 130 cases cider, 300cwt potatoes, 275 crates onions, 163 sacks nuts, nnd a large quantity of sundries. The vessel has also brought for transhipment to London 2700 sacks copra and 400 cases of pearl shell. IN TOUCH BY WIRELESS. Vessels expected to be within wireless ranee of the Wellington and Auckland stations this evening are as follow :— Ulimaroa (bound from Melbourne to Wellington, via Hobart and southern ports), Victoria (from Donedin to Wellington, via Lytteiton), Maunganui (from Wellington to Melbourne, via southern ports and Hobart), Wimmera (from Sydney to Wellington, via northern ports), and Rotorua (from Auckland to Wellington). Advice has been received by the local agents to the effect that the Anglo Mexican left Sydney yesterday lor Auckland and Wellington, en route from New York. She is due here about the 13th December. The Anchor steamer Wavertey is due here to-morrow with a load of coal from Greymouth. After discharge the vessel proceeds on Saturday to Tafakohe, where she will take in a load of cement for Mangarakau, West Wanganui. Subsequently the Waverley will go to Westport. The Karamu sailed from Greymouth last night with a load of coal for Onehunga. The Union Company's steamer Mapourika, which sailed from Wellington last Tuesday for Nelson, Westport, and Greymoutb, arrived at the latter port at 7 o'clock this morning. She is expected to sail .on the return journey to Wellington at 6 o'clock this evening. The Putiki, due at Wangamii to.day. is expected to arrive here to.morrow. Her future movements have not yet been decided.

H.M.S. Torch, which sailed from Auckland early on Tuesday morning, arrived in port shortly before 4 o'clock this afternoon, somewhat earlier than was expected. The current number of the Weekly Graphic contains many illustrations referring to recent local events. The funeral of the late Rev. Father Yenning last week was a most impressive one, and the event is photographed by a fine series cf photo views specially secured on behalf of the Weekly Graphic, three pages being devoted to views of_ the procession and the crowd at the burial service, etc. The opening of Wellington's new General Poet Office is the subject of another series of fine views, which include the interior arrangements. The recent eeries of New Zealand Competitions in the Town Hall are given special prominence also by means of fifty groups and portraits of the prize-winners. The Pathe Freres home cinematograph has just arrived in New Zealand. Pathe Freres state they have already received five hundred enquiries. The initial cost of film and machine is the only necessary cost, as the light is generated as tiie machine works. Messrs. Gualter, Dykes, and Co., who have been appointed sole agent* for New Zealand, state they have only a few machines for immediate disposal, and, when those are disposed of, three months will be required to execute orders. Mr. J. H. Thompson, land agent, Stratford, advertises in this issue particulars of a property for sale or exchange. On Saturday and Sunday next the Ferry Co. will run special trips to H.M.S. Drake, giving the public an opportunity of viewing tho warship.
