FOOTBALL CONTROL
AUCKLAND'S ATTITUDE. (BY TEIiEGRAI'H — PIIES3 ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, This Day. The Auckland Rugby Union approved a suggestion that the English Rugby Union be asked to authorise amendments to the rules from time to time necessary ip the interests of the game in New Zealand, with a proviso disapproving of alterations in the rules in regard to professionalism. The proposed amendment of rule 48 was regarded with some suspicion as preparing the way for cutting the painter, but it was approved when safeguarded by the qualification in regard to professionalism. The Auckland Cricket Association, which recently purchased Eden Park, agreed t& lease it to the Rugby Union for twenty-one years. Eden Park is centrally situated, and will probably give Rugby a fresli impetus.
The Falcon, which sailed from Evans Bay this afternoon for Ha^elocb, did not get further than Worser Bay, vbere she anchored.
