Semi-official utterances regarding Anglo-French developments in the Mediterranean suggest that Italy, as a condition of renewal of the Triple Alliance, asked her allies to guarantee he* policy of the maintenance of the balance of power in the Mediterranean. The newspaper Frankfurter Zeitung accuses M. Deleasse, French Minister for Marine, of seeking to intimidate Italy, and caile her to abandon tha Triplice. QUESTION IN REICHSTAG RE' GARDING FRENCH VIEWS. BERLIN, 20th September. Herr Erzeberger intends to ask in the Reichstag whether Herr yon Bethmann Hollweg, Imperial Chancellor, is aware of_ the extent to which Admiral Ger>minet's views are Bhared by the British and French Cabinets, and what stops he proposes to take, in common with the neutral Powers, to combat such implied intentions of ,tho allies. [Admiral Germinet, in an interview, said that France's navy concentration scheme in the Mediterranean was a good strategic move, and was in accordance with France's role under the entente, namely, the guarding of 'the mastery of the Mediterranean, ensuring France's communications with Algeria, and similarly Britain's defence of her own coasts. To protect France, both countries would probably regard the Straits o^ Dover as territorial waters and forbid the passage of neutral vessels.}
