Taking the nature of the ground into consideration, the meeting of the thirdclass champions of (Jhristehurch antl Wellington last Saturday providprl a fairly good exhibition of wet-weather footbnil The gatnp waft essentially a forward one, and in thin department both teams were very evenly matched, the game being Interesting in consequence. Ono pleasing feature about the mntch wsw the excellent spirit in which it- was played ; not once throughout the game was there even a suspicion of unfair play. It h hard to single out anyone for special commendation, as both sides worked well. Sullivan, however, played a heady game ; it was he who made tho opening which secured for tho local team their hrst try. Bradley, M'Comisky, Galvin, Avery, and Meredith were also prominent For Lyttelton, Paseoe, the Thomas brotheri, Cain, ami Gellerty played well, Pascoe and Gellerty especially so.
