DISSATISFIED RAILWAY MEN
COMPLICATED SITUATION. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright. LONDON, 11th September. Recently a number of, railway men who were dismissed for participating in strikes were engaged by the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants as a clerical staff at 30s per week, to deal with extra work in connection with the National Insurance Act. Last month they threatened to strike because they wers not receiving 355, the minimum recognised by the National Union of Clerks. The society has now dispensed with the dissatisfied men, and the latter are picketing the society's offices to prevent blacklegging. The situation is complicated by the National Union of Clerks declaring that the picketers are themselves blacklegs, having usurped qualified clerks' positions.
