MOTOR CYCLE CLUB

SPEED-JUDGING COMPETITION. A speed- judging competition was held by tho Now Zealand Motor Cycle Club on Saturday afternoon over a course from Clyde-quay School, round Queen's Drive, to Clyde-quay School (distance about eleven miles). Fourteen riders started, and the results show that the average motor-cyclist is a good judge of the speed at which he travels. Each competitor was given, at the start, a card showing the rate of speed to run at (the speeds in each case being different). The use of watches and speedometers was barred. The officials for the raco were :— -Judge, Mr. C. D. Bridge ; starters, Messrs. F. W. Rankine and W. Wilson ; timekeepers, Messrs. E. W. Daniel and C. G. Sherwood. The competition resulted :— H. GasI tein (3i Triumph), total error 30sec, 1 j Bothamlcy (5 Indian), lmin 52sec, 2; L. R. Barber (3i Invincible and sidecar), 2min. 3; Duncan (3i L.M.C.), 3mm fisec, 4; W. Wilson (5 Indian), 4min, 5. SMOKE CONCERT. Thfe club's annual smoke concevt and presentation of tfrneß took place in the i Tiffin Tearooms in the evening. There was a large attendance, including mem« j bors of other clubs. The president (Mr. I E. W. Daniel) occupied the chair, and presented the prizes won during the season. The prize-winners were :— Messrs. C. Wright, L. B. Rhodes, R. Burn, 1. V. Wilson, V. Sutherland, J. Boucher, H. Gastein, R. S. .Bonder, H. Hume, I. W. Makin, E. Burrows, G. E. Gibbs, J. Seivers, G. Banks, L. R. Barber, F. E. Bowden, N. Irvine, A. )i. Collins, K. Townsend, H. H. Nimmo, E. G. Bender. E. G. Gilbert, and W. Diaffin. Vocal items were contributed by Messrs. Bringezu. Sutherland, Tai Hei keta, ( Brabner, 0 Sullivan, Hogar, Fitegerald, and Dr. Hales.
