■ m NORDON CUP WAIRARAPA DEFEATS POVERTY BAY. [Bt MSIiEGRAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION.] MASTER-TON, 11th July. In the Nordon Cup hockey match, played to-day, Wairarapa 6UccoßBfully defended the title by defeating the Poverty Bay representatives by 5 goals to nil. The weather was not favourable, rain falling' during the day, the ground being wet and, soft. The visiting forwards were good at times, but were unable to pierce the defence of Wairarapa, whose backs were very Gound. In the first spell Wairarapa pu+ on two goalß, scored Dy Fisher and Tunnidiffe. in the second epell, Poverty Bay were outclassed, three goals being scored for the home team by Fisher. Smaile, the Poverty Bay goal-keeper, received a nasty bit, and left the field. The home team played an excellent game, bub the visitors . (excepting, the forwards) played poorly.
