Trades Council to the effect that 'the Waihi' and K&efton men' had made a" mistake * in- striking, and that the 1 Council was not prepared to assist the New Zealand , Federation of Labour or the issue of an appeal to affiliated unions for assistance, believing that- the American system of warfare Was unsuitable. to' the Dominion. One delegate said that of four Labour Councils in New Zealand, it was strange that only one was consulted. Whether the men had made a technical mistake or not he would support them. , Another said that* ' when worker* were seeking more wages and shorter houi* they were never wrong. The executive stated that it was seeking further information from the Auckland Council. "A - - proposal to make an immediate appeal to the unions to assist the strikers was negatived.
