KNOCKED OUT BY "AL." ,F£LZER. The English boxer, "Bombardier" Wells, has made an inauspicious start with his American programme of rights, says a meseago by the Independent Cablo Service to the Sun. Ho met "Al." Palzor at Madi-son-square Gardens in a contest scheduled for 10 rounds. In the third round Palzer scored a clean knook-out.
In the opinion of the Mayor (Mr. M'Laren), the revaluation of the city would have to be considered. He doubted if^ there would be much alteration in the city, but there were parts of Greater Wellington that should be revalued. In some cases he thought reductions would be made, and in others the valuations would be increased. He wae going into the whole matter, and would bnng it before the council in due course. Mr. J. Craigie, M.P., has received vrortl that Cabinet has agreed to recommend the Admiralty to transfer to the New Zealand Dreadnought the gifts donated by New Zealanders to the cruiser Zealandia. ?«lr. R. T. Sadd, Commissioner oi Crown Lands at Nelson, who has been transferred to Napier, was presented by the Nelson Chamber of Commerce yesterday with an illuminated address «x pressing appreciation of his services to the district in advancing land settlement. The business community waß well represented at^the gathering. Officers of the Department presented Mr. Sadd with a roll-top desk, and he was also entertained by the Nelson branch of the Surveyors' Institute. A salo of Bcncfield's nursery stock will bo conducted by Messrs. G. Thomas and Company, at the Fruit Exchange, Allenstreet, tq-morrow, at 1 p-'clockj
