Lord Roberts represented tho King, while Queen Alexandra, the Kaiser, and other Royal personages were also represented. The pall-bearers included Lord Dundonald, General Sir lan Hamilton, Lieutenant-General Sir Archibald Hunter, Field-Marshal Lord Methuen, Lieu-tenant-General Lord Grenfell, and FieldMarshal Sir Evelyn Wood. , Troops lined the route, and the coffin was covered -with wreaths from their Majesties the King and Queen, Queen Alexandra, tho Kaiser, and members of the garrison that defended Ladysmlth under the leadership of tho dead soldier.
