Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., presided at the Magi&trate's Court to-day. For a sixth breach of her prohibition order, Kathleen Stanley was penalised in the sum of £3. She was • also convicted for drunkenness. Fines of 10s and 20s were imposed on James Wilson and Henry Taylor respectively for drunkenness, and two first offenders were dealt with in the usual manner. Thomas Bogle, who was found by night without lawful excuse in a railway carriage, was charged with being a rogue and a vagabond. Thomas S,iffleet's application for the remission of the arrears of a, maintenance order was granted. For failing to make a return to the Inspector of Stock of the number of sheep owned by him, Alfred Andrew Mitchell was fined 20s, with costs 7s. Julius Lamberg pleaded guilty to a charge of having, on the 7itJi June, illtreated a horbe by working it while it was suffering from an injured shoulder. Defendant, who- had beeu previously con. victed for a similar offence, was fined £4, with costs and solicitor's fee, £1 Bs. Mr. F. W. Haybittle, J.P.* presided at the- Mount Cook Police Court this morning, and ' dealt frith th& following cases of drunkenness: — Two first offenders, who failed to appear, were each penalised in (the sum of 10s, with the option of forty-eight hours' imprisonment. F. Loom and one first offender wer© each penalised in the sum of se, the alternative being fixed at twenty-four hours' detention. Another first offender was convicted and discharged.
