WINTER SHOW AT PALMERSTON
RECORD TAKINGS.' Although it rained heavily in Palmerston North yesterday, the attendance at the National Dairy Show was- remarkably good. All day long the corridors tow thronged with people, and fully 6000 ■watched the Association football match in the afternoon. Prior to the game the high jump competition for horses was decided. Mr. H. D. Buchanan's Review annexed the event. The gate takings at the show constituted a record. On the first day the amount was £44 7s 6d ; second day, £271 18s; third day, £250 2s 9d; fourth day, £191 13a 2dj— total, £758 Is Id. In 1910 the amounts were : First day, £54; second day, £150 10s; third day, £210 13s; fourth day, £156 14s 6d ;— total, £552 16s 6d. The second beet year was in 1908, when the total was £730 19s lOd. Much of the success wae dije to the efforts of Mr. W. T. Penny, the secretary of the association, whosu first Winter Show it was.
