PREVENTION OF CRUELTY
The fortnightly meeting of the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was held lust evening, Mr. R. H. Webb presiding. Several ,ca«es of alleged cruoltj reported upon by the inepoctor were dealt with, and in one or two inßtanceß it was decided to take court proceedings. The following donations were acknowledged:—Professor MacKenzie, £1 Is; Mrs. A. Atkins, £1 ; Mr. A. T. Bate, 10s 6b; Friends, 8s 6d; Bishop Sprott. Messrs. G. and T. Young, and "Colonel, 5s each ; E.T., 4s ; Misses Gruar and Ash, Dr. Jones, Messrs. B. Hopkirk, Holliday, Beloher, W. Price, F. J. Pinny, Wyatt, H.E., and W. and Co., 2s 6d each.
