Although the plans for the King j George Coronation Memorial Home for Advanced Cases of Consumption were ! presented to the Memprial Home General Committee for approval last night, it was disco*«red that the committee had no power to iD»ke any alterations in them, in view .of the fact that it had agreed tc* hand the rnc-uey collected to the Hospital Board unconditionally. It ■was also unable to state for what object the money was given to the board, because to secure the Government subsidy the board must have an absolutely free hand in the expenditure of the fuu-J^. The plans provided fur a build iag to accommodate forty-four patients and to cost £8600, which, with the cost of equipment, will swallow up . the £9^41 available for expenditure. The building will be absolutely plaiiv both inside and out, and has been designed to x<ctina additions being made. The committee, on the advice of the Hon. H. F. Wigraan, carried a Tesoution handing over the fund to the board without any expression of opinion regarding the plans and declaring that the entire responsibility for caryring out the work rested with* the board and its adviser*,.
