MANSON AND BARR.

The influence which is exerted by machinery upon the general intereete of mankind is incalculable, and there is no 6ubject in the present age more deserving' of attention, and not one, peihaps, in which all classes are so much concerned. Labour without adequate re6ults is always regarded as a curse ; and almost" every invention from the earliest times ha& had for its _ object the saving of labour, and the increase of production. Every successive invention has made man move powerful, and increased the production of hie industry ; the world being now peopled with inanimate slaves, who do his work faster and better than he himself did with> the greatest labour, and the most ingenious took. These remarks are called forth by an inspection of Mansion and Barr's stand in the Agricultural Hall at the- -Winter Show today. The display is of the most heterogeneous description. Here are a few of the lines. The celebrated Blacketone oil engines are shown mounted on sledges specially constructed in this way to facilitate removal, and thus avoid the unnecessary expense of' concrete foundations, etc. Also on strong steel portable frames, 'with water circulating pump and special' water 'cooler, enabling the engine to be run a* full day the small .amount of cooling,, water carried having r to be renewed. Fixtures of the same engine are also shown, and dairy farmers regard-these as the most suitable and economical' to use for i driving milking machines. An all-steel Canadian saw bench, with heavy fly-wheels, Daisy pig and calf meal ■ grinder, Moxon pulper and slicer, Daisy barrell churns, I btewart horse clippers, patent automatic stop pullies, O.K. washers, copper and frames for outside use in varying capacity, Philadelphia butter worker, Cyclone . fencing, and entrance gates of Unique design, power water pumps, spring coil netting, and the Wallace lime and basic slag distributor, a handy contrivance specially suited to this country. There are only a few of Manson and Barr'e lines, but everyone of thorn must bo of interest to the man on the land. In regard to milking machines, well, there is no more qualified to speak on the subject that Manson and Ban 1 . They hola the agency for a great machine in the " Ridd," and nothing can speak more eloquently of it than the testimonials from Manawatu and Wairarapa's best farmers. Manson and Barr are men of practical experience in regard to all classes of iarm ' implements and machinery. They have made a reputation in business for reliability. They themselves are experienced formers, and to .this is due the absolute supremacy their importations have shown over many others, because they know just what is required, and many of their agricultural contrivances have been remodelled and altered to their own specification, to more adequately fit the' requirements of New Zealand soil and conditions.
