NATIONAL GALLERY ANOTHER EXHIBITION

SUBSCRIPTIONS STILL COMING IN. This evening an "at home" will be held at the temporary gallery, which has been made available for the recent picture exhibition by the Harbour Board. The Arrangement Committee has issued some invitations, but it wishes all who have subscribed to consider themselves invited. Some of the subscribers, however, were anonymouß. and could not be reached. A general invitation, therefore, is extended to all subscribers. Evening dress will be worn. This latest exhibition includes pictures purchased from the Baillie collection and pictures already in the Wellington Gallery. The works make a really fine show when all together. They are all hung "on the line," and are thus better seen than if crowded up together. The water-colourß occupy the ante-gal-lery. The exhibition will be quite free, but as the Picture Purchase Fund is not yet closed, subscriptions still coming in, collections will be taken at the doors, thus enabling those who cannot give largely to the fund to give something. Catalogues have been prepared with illustrations of some of the pictures purchased*. These will be obtainable at the gallery. The exhibition will open to-morrow and .Sunday afternoons. It will close on Tuesday. , Those responsible tor the exhibitions of the Baillie and the local and purchased pictures are unstinting in their praise of the Harbour Board for all that that body has done in tho promotion, of the National Gallery moveineut.
