BOXING TOURNAMENT
The amateur championship matches will bo brought to a conclusion to-nighfc, when the semi-finals and finals in the feather, welter, and heavy weights will be contested, and the finals in the bantam, and light-weight decided. On the showing of last night's winners there should be some excellent contests in the twelve bouts down for decision this evening.
A large number of applications were received for the position of .secretary and treasurer to the Wellington Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (which recently became vacant owing to the resignation of Mr. C. W. Carroll), and the appointment has been coufeiied upon Mr. J. D. A very, 145, Featherstonstreet, where the society's office will now be situated, and where personal, written, or telephoned complaint* respecting acts of cruelty will be revived and promptly attended to.
