NO CHANGE ,AT CHRISTCHUBCH. fBT TELEGRAPH— PEESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHUECH, sth May. iMothing has changed in connection with the petrol famine except tho quantity of motor fuel available, which has decreased, and the price of spirit, which has increased. One or two cars have laid up, but the number of cars has not changed appreciably. Ono of the difficulties of the position is the amateur financier, who has been operating in petrol. A number of private people who received information of the approaching shortage a week or so ago invested in petrol, buying for a rise. These amateur manipulators are now holding for greater profits. OIL CARGOES. . AUCKLAND, sth May. In connection with the petrol famine, it wae ascertained locally that the steamer Holienfeln, which arrived at Melbourne yesterday, en route for Auckland, has 5000 caec6 of petrol aboard for this port. The steamer Anglo-Saxon, which left New York on 25th April for Auckland, Wellington. Lyttelton, and Dunedin, has 45,000 cases of oil on board for Auckland, including 18,000 cases of petrol and a proportionate cargo for the southern ports named. She j« duo here on 4th July.
