JUDGMENT FOR THE FORMER. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright., (Received April 24, 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, 23rd April. The Lord Chief Justice, Lord Alvc-r-stone, has given judgment iv the case John Roberts, the- well-known billiardist, v. George Gray, the Australian player, in which Roberts claimed' £6000 for breach of an agieement. Plaintiff, in February last, was awarded £1500» but the Judge postponed urgumonte on. tho legal points as to whether tho con* tract was beneficial to Gray, and if so, whether that benefit was injured by, Roberts's inability to play with otherthan bonzolinc balls for the first two months. His Lordship now gave judgment inj favour of Robert* on all points. [Roberts, in his evidence, said an agreement had been arranged that tha receipts should be pooled and divided, Roberts paying first-class travelling ex-, penscs for Gray a-nd his father, which) were afterwards to be deducted from, Gray'e share of the receipts. When Gray reached London, however, ho arranged with Riloys that he should reoeive £30 weekly. Rileys' gross receipts had boon £4655, Gray receiving £?o& s In consequence of the repudiation of the agreement Roberts had lost £500 at Dublin, £350 at Manchester, and £1203 on two other matches.
