CONFIRMED BOOK THIEF
CLERGYMAN'S SON SENT TO GAOL. BOOKS STOLEN FROM A CATHEDRAL. By Telegraph.— Press Association,.— Copyright. (Received April 24, 10 a.m.) LONDON, 23rd April. John Tinkler, a clergyman's son, has been sentenced to three years' penal servitude on a charge of stealing books from Peterborough Cathedral. It was shown that accused had been previously convicted. The evidence showed that Tinkler was a confirmed book thief, and had confederates in New, York and London. [During seven years past 215 booke have been stolen from a library of the Peterborough Cathedral, one book being worth £1800. Two of tho oldest books in tho library of the Lincoln , Cathedral havo also disappeared.]
