. ♦ A CHAPLAIN HONOURED. The high esteem and regard in which the Rev. Father C. J. Venuinjj, S.M., is held by the. Hibernians of Wellington was ovidenoed by the large gathering of members, both male and female, that attended St. Patrick's Hall last evening. Bro. J J. L.' Burke, President of St. Patrick's Brunch, No. 95,' presided, and in saying farewell to Father Yenning as chaplain of St. Patrick's expressed, en behalf of tho members, the fcorrow that they experienced when it wus unnourwod that the Rev. Father had handed in his resignation uft chaplain, owing to his truntfercuiee from the Te Aro Parish to Thorndon. However, St. Patrick's thought tco highly of him to lose him altogether, and Ilierffort* had elecied him a life honorary member of lhc» brunch, lie then presented Father Yenning with a framed illuminated emblem certificate. During tho evening musical and elocutionary items were rendered by Messrs Bi-sbop, Quuui, C. J. Houston, I>. R. Luwlor, E. Currigan, Smmegour, and Allan Stait. Mr. Seriinegour acted as pianist.
