EASTBOURNE AFFAIRS
TO TO* EDITOR. \ Sir,— lt is rumoured and in some cases I believe openly stated that I am a large shareholder in the Wellington Harbour Ferries Co., Ltd., and that I have used my power as a big shareholder to force the company to accede to my requests for improvements in the service. To this statement I wish to give an absolute and emphatic denial. I am not and never have been a shareholder, as reference to the company's share-list will prove. All my negotiations for improvements in the ferry service have been, carried. out solely in the interests of tho district ol which 1 have the honour to represent as Mayor.— l am, etc., H. W. SHORTT.
