The Incorporated Society of Meat Importers' Smithfield market quotations for the undermentioned classes of frozen meat are based on actual sales of not lees than one hundred carcases of mutton or lamb, or twenty-five , quarters of beef of fair average quality. The quotations are not selected lines, but for parcels fairly representative of the bulk of the shipment* now on tho market. The pricos which follow ar& on average a farthing per lb more than, the value ex ship, tlm difference representing an average cost in expenses, handling, conveyance, tnd selling the meat : — New Zealand Beef.— Hinds, 4W. At the wool sales the fleece portions of the clips named sold as follow: — Marchburn, top price 13jd, average price 10 3-8 d; Leefield, top 13d, average llgd. HIDES AND BASILS. LONDON, 20th April. Hides are in insignificant supply, and are- neglected. Basils are a farthing to halfpenny cheaper. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wellington, have received cable advice from their head office as follows: — "Frozen Meat — Since our last cable, the market for all qualities is nro^ with an improving demand, and change, if any, is in favour of sellers. Tallow — Since our last cable, tallow in general is 6d to 9d per owt. higher."
