A meeting of the New Zealand Swimming Council, in conjunction with. the Chiistchurch- Centre, was held to-day to consider the difficulty regarding Champion's departure for Stockholm to take part in the Olympic Games. The secretary to the council said that the difficulty wae solely due to the demand of the Olympic Council in Wolf liogton for a guarantee of £100. Auck« land had guaranteed all the expenses, but apparently this, was insufficient,) However, Mr. George Harris has given his personal guarantee of £50. The centre decided to take steps at once to. raise the amount of Mr. Harris's guarantee.
