ORPHANS' CLUB.
A meeting of the executive of the Wellington Orphans' Club was held on Wednesday evening. Colonel Collins, C.M.G presided, and Dr. Izard, Meeere. Keenan. Batt, M'Govern,, Gawthorpe, Hickmott ta-rr, , Hutfcn, Girdlestone, - Warren, *£' ' and MlL aughlin ,were present. •j ;' aew President, Colonel Collin*. said that it was a pleasant duty to report that the forthcoming session promised to be most succeesfuL Already there, was a greatly increased membersnip^mare comfortable and "commodious premises were obtained, and future meetJflge would be held in the Maeonic Hall, rhe chan-man emphasised the fact that the hbetaxy tf^ e would not be lost sight of, and bnef and entertaining lecturettea wonW be arranged during the season. lhe ladle*' night -would be held earlier thia session, probably in the Town Hall in view of the projected . visit of repreeentatives from the Auckland, Dunedin and Jhrvercargill clubs, a re-unioa which would certaittly be. a feature of musical circles during th© year, as it was intendt /i fc r? Dg an from Auckland of 40 members which has seta very high standard in work of this class. He was greatly pleased to say that His Excellency the Governor had consented to accept the office of patron this year,' and had expressed the hope of being able to attend several of tho functions this year. An exceptionally fine programme had been drawn up for the opening night.
