HOPEFUL OF WINNING THE POLE LETTER FROM THE EXPLORER. MATERIAL GAINED WILL REPAY ALL OUTLAY. By Telegraph.— Preßß Association .--Copyright. (Received April 13, 10.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Captain Scott, in a letter to the Attorney-General (Mr. Holman), dated 31st October, shows that ho was hopeful of winning the Pole. He says: "In the end we shall have a masa of material which will well repay all tho outlay of the expedition, judged by scientific standards, but we can scarcely be contented with that. I hop* to ha,v« cause V> rejoice in something which appeals more largely to the sentiment of our raco."
