A MILLION LAWSUIT.
A suit has been begun at New York by Mr. J. A. Chaloner to recover property amounting to somo 431,200,000 from h?s relatives, who had him incarcerated in an insane asylum some years ago. Mr. Chaloner escaped from the asylum, and went to Virginia, where he has lived fov the past three or four years. Now, no longer fearing that the charge of insanity will be persisted in, he has returned to New York and intends to recover nis property, if possible. Mr. Ohaloner charge* his relatives with having sought on more than one occasion to decoy him to New York in order that they might have him recommitted to the asylum, and his counsel, though he could offer no proofs of these charges, -Jwelt upon them as indicating the animus of Mr. Chaloner's people towards him in order that they might retain his property, which they held in trust, and from which they wero reaping tho benefit. One of the counts brought against tho plamtift, and in support of the insanity theory, was that Mr. Chaloner contended that he was the reincarnation of Napoleon. His counsel admitted this, but said that this did not prove insanity, but merely a twist in his mind which need not affect his life beyond this point. It is believed that Mr. .Chalonej will win hia. 'case, and numerous friends of his m New York are supporting him in the cwiteet.
