A DYING CONDUCTOR.

The curtain rang- down on a sad tragedy at the Theatrfc Royal, Darwen, a manufacturing town in Lancashire. The conductor of the orchestra, Mr. Swingler, although ill, insisted on performing his duties an usual. Ho conducted the playing of tho National Anthem as the audience was about to disperse, but the last note had hardly died away when tho conduotor fell back on his seat unconscious.
