PAIR OF FAITHFUL LOVERS.
MARRIED IN PRISON. About eight years ago a young fellow named Michael Pizzulli, belonging to a ( well-to-do family at Ginosa, near Tai"anto, in Italy, fell madly in love with Maria Montrone, a little girl only ten yeare of age, and unable to obtain her there and then in marriage, Pizzulli aJbducted the child, for which offence he was condemned to sixteen years' incarceration. Prosecution for offences of this nature in Italy le reserved to private action, but through revenge and an old enmity between the families concerned, the girl's | parents have .persistently turned a deaf ear to Pizzulli'fl abiding desire to vr<;d Maria, and had not hex 1 own constant attachment for her imprisoned lover at length softened the hearts of her kinsfolk uud acquaintances, Pizzulli would have had to expiate his crime till October, 1920. On the 25th of February, however, Convict No. 1332 was taken in prison garb to an improvised chapel, where ho found the beautiful eighteen-year-old damsel, whom he had not vet eyes upon einee the tragic day, and whom, indeed, he failed to recognise, waiting with open arms to welcome him. Amidst a scene of intense emotion the marriage contract was signed and sealed in the presence of a large gathering of relatives on either side, all of whom seemed eagerly glad to forget old scores. In accordance with a provision of the Italian penal code, the convict bridegroom, having repaired his fault with the full consent of the offended families, was" straightway provided with 'civilian drees, escorted to the prison gates, and set at liberty, his old warders congratulating him on the way and cheering his departure. /
