' CONFERENCE IN ITS FINAL STAGES .VARIOUS RESOLUTIONS*
• -The Trades Councils' Conference continued its deliberations at Parliament JBuildings to-day, the Hon. J. T. Paul {presiding. I, It was agreed — "That the Government fee urged to have all school books printed jby tie State and issued free of charge." It was also agreed — "That the Government be ' urged to erect a larger "•number of houses in each centre with a '•view of bringing down the extortionate Trent* now being charged by landlord*." * Mr. Forde (Southland) moved — "That the Government be urged to grant the '{workers residing in the suburbs outside ,ithe larger towns similar railway concessions and accommodation as are granted '-[workers in the suburbs of the cities." U Mr. Reader (Timaru) seconded the which was carried. Mi- G. R. Whiting (Canterbury) -moved — " That, for the purpose of reduc2ing the excessive cost of living;* this Conference' urge 3 the Government to nn■«xediately establish competitive State S(erviqe6 and. factories." 2 This was seconded by Mr. Sullivan jfcnd carried unanimously. * ■v.
