RUGBY dONTROL. WELLINGTON UNION.
The following were pressnt at last night's meeting of the Management Committee of the Wellington Rugby Union: Messrs. E. 0. Hales (in the chair), W. Perry, E. A. Daweon, H, Urquhari, 'E. Little, J. Burns, A. E. Brown, F. C. Atkiiison, D. Weir, and W. Hardham. At the Jaet meeting of the Referees' Association it was decided by motion that Mr. D. Weir be aeked to apologise for certain allegedly disparaging remarks made at the annual meeting of the. Eugby Union anent the Referees' Association. The matter was submitted last evening, when it was generally agreed that the Management Committee, had no power to do anything. It wn* a matter purely between Mr. Weir and the association. The .following motion, moved by the. chairman, was carried : "That the letter from the Wellington 1 Referees' Association be acknowledged, and that they be informed that the remarks were passed by a delegate!, and as the chairman of the meeting permitted them to go the union has no jurisdiction: in the matter." A communication was received from Miramax, Limited (in reply to the union's offer) informing the committee that the company was prepared to grant the' union the use of the ground for the sum of £35 for the season, the company reserving the whole of the grazing rights upon the park. The- letter was in the nature of an aweptance of the union's offer. SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP FIXTURES. The opening matches of the first roTpid of the senior championship will take place on Saturday week (20th April). The fixtures are as follow : — Poneke v. Petone, Park No. 1 ; Melrose v. Southern, Park .No. 2; Athletic v. Wellington, Petone ; Victoria College v. Oriental, Ka'rori ; Old Boyk v. St. James, Polo No. 1. The fifth grade matches will begin on the same date. It was decided to postpone the opening junior matches until the 27th April. BEVEN-A-SIDE MATCHES. The usual eeven-a-3ide matches will b© played next Saturday at the Athletic Park. The following are the senior fixtures for that date: — Athletic A v. St. James B, Petone v. Wellington College, Poneke A v. Selwyn, Athletic B v. Hi. James A, Petone B v. Oriental A, Poneke B v. Old Boys, Southern v. Wellington, Oriental B v. Melrose. Fifth class (seven-a-bide) : St. James -v. Melrose, Poneke v. Waiwetu, Oriental v. Southern, Petone v. Wellington College.
