THE DECAYING HORSE
TO THIS EDITOR. Sir, — Ifc is with much pleasure I notft tho growing intereßt in this city in tho noblest of all animals, the horse. Should the suggestion of Mr. Wallace and previoua writers tak© effect, I shall bo happy to become an annual subscriber to the fund mentioned. I particularly would like to see a revival othaok riding, espeoially among the fair sex, as no form of 1 recreation' is moro healthful or conducive to grace of figure, and thoro is. no moro pleHHiuifc sight than- a graceful woman well habited and mounted. Tho remarks expressed by Lord Denman at the recent Newcastle Agricultural Show ro the breeding of light horses for military purposes might also apply to New Zealand. — I am, etc., J. COTTEKILL.
