Although it hit the sporting crowd inconveniently, the rain which began on Monday afternoon, and has continued since, was welcomed by the land, which was getting dry again. The grain crope around this district, especially oats, are wonderfully good as to the results of the threshing. From a paddock of 35 acres of Algerian oats, 31t. Robert Sanson had a crop of over 106 bushels to the acre. Mr. J. Perrett got a Teturn of 75 bushels of Algerian oate to .the acre. His dogstail seed threshed out 9001b • to the acre from the machine, and he expects that it will dress over 6001b to the acre. Mr. B. Perrett's onion crop yielded 40 tons to the acre, and in this lot 12 onions weighed over 151b. Last year the leilding Borough Council contributed £197 to the Pahnereton Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, pr £28! in excess of that paid the previous year. The total amount in interest paid by the borough council last year -was £3762. In addition to this 6um, £100 has been repaid on account of the kedemption of loans. ,
