QUARTERLY MEETING. The quarterly meeting of the Petono Fire Board was held vi the Council Chambers, Petoue. yesterday afternoon. Tho chairman (Ah". Tlit* Eupurinienileiit reported that during the past quarter thero had been five fiics. t:nd two false alarms. None- of the fires weie of a vmy serious ciuu-Ji,tei\ and the false alarms were caused, as far as could bo made out, by electrical disturbances-. The Minister of Internal Affairs wrote consenting to the board raising, by way of loan, a sum not exceeding £1750 for the purpose of building the new station 1 The Treasury Department forwarded the quarterly subsidy of £12 10. Inspector Hugo wrote- stating that ft test of the water pressure'made by him some time ago was not successful, and he was unable to submit a. leport as lo the insult. He would muke. a further test at a, da to to be fixed. Mr. A. Webster tendered his resignation as secretary cf the board, as from 51st March. Tho resignation was accepted, and it was decided to call fcr applications to fill tho vacancy. The salary was fixed at £25 per year. The- cash balance at tho bank was reported to lie £61 0s Od. Accounts, including that for tho purchase of a section for the new station, and amounting to £605 16s, \yciq pacsed for payment. >
