LATIN-AMERICAN REPUBLICS

RESULT OF MR. KNOX'S VISIT. By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyriuht. WASHINGTON, 23rd March. Mr. P. C. Knox, Secretary of State, has sent v wireless message stating that the desired multe of his tour of the Latin-American Republics has been attained. The prime object was to secure closer relations in anticipation of Euro pean aggression in commerce and diplomacy. [To solve diplomatic problems and acquire more accurate information as to conditions in Central America and Northern South America, by direction of President Taft, Mr. Knox made a fiveweeke' trip to the Spanish-American Republics bordering on the Caribean sea and the gulf of Mexico. Although the official announcement of the trip, made public at tho White Housd before his departure, gave no details, it was made known that Havana, Cuba, would be Mr. Knox'e first stop, and it was reported that in Cuba he might try to "solve the problem" that brought about threats of American intervention there a few week* ago. Aside from a possible peace-making expedition to Cuba., the purpose of the trip was announced to be the promotion ot friendly relations in Central America. In many respects, it was similar to that taken around South America several years ago by a former Secretary of State, Mr. Elihu Root. The benefits of the trip by Mr. Root, American diplomats have rated highly, and both the President and Mr. Knox hope for similar benefits from Mr. Knox'e vidit, especially since the countries to which Mr. Knox has been never have received calls from American 'Secretai'ieJ' of State.] We specialise in Roslyn Pure Wool Unshrinkable Flannel and Underwear.
