NELSON'S REQUIREMENTS.
DEPUTATION TO MINISTER OF MARINE. 'A deputation from tho Nelson Harbour Board waited on the Minister of Marine (the Hon. J. A. Millar) to-day. Tho Hon. R. M'Kenzie introduced the deputation, and Mr. Atmore, M.P., Nelson, was also present. Mr. Atmore said the board required some dredging to be done, and it was of opinion that the work should be done by the Marine Department. Mr. M'Mahon, chairman of the Nelson Harbour Board, produced a plan showing soundings in the harbour. Mr. Millar said he would get a report on the proposal and see what could be done.' He would leave a memorandum for the department, but whether his BUf • cessor would carry it out he could not cay. The Hon. R. M'Kenzies Mr Atnioro and I will keep an eye on it. Id the course of argument Mr. Millar stated that the Government was quite prepared to sell the wharf at ite capital value. He had told the Foxton people the same thing. The localities in question could not expect to get lhe wharvet as a gift. He wan quite prepared to recommend that the dredging suggested should be put in hand.
