A fire broke out yesterday in the Convent of St. Claire at Le Puy, a ; town in tho department of Hautei Loire, south-west of Lyons. 1 la 'order that the rule forbidding men to enter the convent be adhered to, the nuns^barricaded the building against the firemen and police, and wnen the police at last battered • down, a door seven aged nuns were found in an unconscious state. They were rescued with considerable difficulty.
