Daring his speech, at the turning of the first sod of the Napier -Gisborno railway, Sir, Joseph Ward stated that the actual work of construction would be commenced in about ten days. It has since transpired that the Public Works \ Department have completed plans for the authorised section, and thai fifty meu will be put on to .commence tho work within the time stated by the Prime Minister. The work is to be carried out on the co-operative system.
