The Greymouth. Star understatids that tho MinisteT fir Public Works has decided to carry th© Westport-Inanga* | hua Junction railway Kn« along tho j north bank of the Butler River, I a. distance of about twenty- i four mil^fl to a c/mfluonce of the Dee with the Bulter 1 , wh&r& the latter will be bridged and the line extended there along the southern, bank of the Buller j River. At the point mentioned tha | bridge construction will not be attended with tho expense and difficulty which, would be met with if the structure was erected at Granger* Point, which was the site at first proposed. Apart from, this view of the problem, it is said that the northern route offers greater facilities for the construction of the line, which, of course, would be a very material consideration, while this route would also assist the opening up pf a gold-bearing country, as also considerable areas bf land suitable for /settlement.
