SHEEP SALE.
GOOD PRICES AT ELDERSLIE. ' [SI TELEGRAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION.] O AMARU, 30th. January. At the Elderslie dispersal sale, concluded to-day, the sheep were brought under the hammer. The Romney Marsh breed "made the best average of price*, buyers from tho North Island" and the southern parts of this island (together with one from Victoria) operating freely. Mi. J. F.< Reid paid 110 guineas for an imported ram, and Mr. H. Cassells, of Hawkes Bay, 85 guineas for another. Two others were bought at 75 guineas each, one being, bought "by Mr. Arthur Payne, of "Victoria, and the other by Mr. Watson'Shennan, of Otago. For the ' Elderelie-bred rams the best price was 60 guineas, this sum being paid by Mr. David Murray, of Clydevale, while Mr. J. Millar, of Maungatua, gave 50 guineas for another, and Mr. H. Buchailan, of Gisborne, bought three at 35 guineas, 30 guineas, and 30 guineas " respectively. The "Hon. J. D. Ormond was the purchaser of another at 28 guineas. JNtr.jJ. MacFarlane paid 25 guineas ior one ; and Bailey Bros., of Wanganui, 26 guinea* for another. The best price obtained for ewes was 10 guineas, which was paid in oeveral instances. An imported Border Leicester ram realised 110 guineas, the purchaser being Mr. James Ross, of Palmerston South. Another found a purchaser in Mr. Acton Adams, at 75 guineas. Of 'the Elderelie-bred Border ,rams,. 21 guineas was the top price, the purchaser being Mr. M 4 K.ereher, of Woodlands. Another ' was bought at 20 guinea* by Mr. Actoni Adams*. The English Leicester* an<l Lincoln. o*xd not realise high prices in any instance.
