4 ~ — DECISION OF UNIVERSITY SENATE. The Music Committee reported to the University Senate to-day, as follows:— That the Senate renew its recormnenda- ' {ion Ho the Government to grant a sum of money to assist in the immediate establishment of the Conservatbrium o£ Music of Auckland ; that the Senate ' secure a report from an expert or experts ' on the scheme proposed by the Auckland University College for the Conservatorium of Music; that the Music Committee be a Music? Doc, Cambridge, ' the examiner in music, on the musical exercise of a candidate for the Mus. Bac. degree be adopted. la reference to the proposals submitted to the Senate by tho Universities of Melbourne, Adelaide, Tasmania, and Queensland, through their representative, Mr. H. A. Thomson, of the Melbourne University Conservatorium of Music, who visitwd New Zealand for that purpose, the committee reported that pending the establishment of a Coußervatorium of Music in Auckland, it is premature to make any recommendation. .
