FEATHERSTON ITEMS.

[bt telegraph— special to the post.] FEATHERSTON, This Day. At the first meeting of the newlyelected Kahutara River Board, Mr. A. Hannay was re-elected chairman. In returning thanks for the honour done him, Mr. Hannay remarked upon the fact that much time had been lost in giving adjoining settlers the opportunity to enlarge the district and make the stop-bank scheme a greater success. It seemed that no action would be taken in' that direction, however; therefore it behoved the board to prepare for the undertaking in view, without further delay, and proceed with its own scheme next spring. It was decided that the chairman make enquiries as to whether other settlers were likely to join hands with the board ; if not the board would follow out his recommendation.
