"- BOROUGH COUNCIL ' j The fortnightly meeting of the Ka-rori Borough Council wae held Itust evening, there being present: — The Mayor (Mr. C. Cathie), Councillors J. A. Frost, W. T. Hildreth, W. G. Bradnock, J. T. Horn, W. H. Nimmo, E. J. Standen, A. Hamilton, B. H. G. Burn. REVALUATION. ' The Mayor Baid he had consulted the Valuer- General in reference to revaluation of the borough, and he had been informed that it was impossible to have a revaluation made this year. The applications of the different boroughs had to be taken in rotation, and over thiry applications had been put in. It would, the Mayor 6aid, <be about September before the valuation would be made for the following year, WORKERS' TICKETS. The City Electrical Engineer wrote in reference to workers' return ticket*, stating that workers' ticket* were always accepted on cars which left Newtown at 1 p.m. Councillor Hildreth pointed out thajt the car which left Newtown at 1 p.m. did not go to Karon. The Mayor moved and Councillor Bradnock seconded, that the letter be received. , Councillor Hildreth moved, as an amendment, that workers' tickets be made available for return from either terminus up to 2 p.m. Seconded by Councillor Burn. The clerk pointed out that an Order in-Council in connection with th« matter would have to be amended. Councillor Hildreth considered the Order-in-Council only a bogey, easily got over. The Karon Council was only catering for workera to and from the gardens, and should see that they, obtained the concession. ■The amendment was withdrawn and the motion carried. FREIGHT CARS. The action of the Mayor in agreeing that freight cars should be allowed to run on the Karori line without charge for mileage was confirmed. ENGINEER'S REPORT. The ■ engineer (Mr. G. W, Brigham) reported that maintenance work had been done on Cooper-6treet, Main-road, imd Johnston-street. Tarring the track from Johnston-street to the deviation was commenced on the 14th inst., and the work should be finished about the ond of next week. The tea-room was completed and ready for use. The report was adopted. BUILDING PERMIT. Mr. Frost, Building Inspector for the borough,, attended in connection with a building being erected by Mr. Nimmo, which he contended was above the value placed 'upon it by the builder, and for which a further fee was, in his opinion, necessary. * Mr. Nimmo is to be asked to pay the fee (10s). ACCOUNTS. The amount of £84 16s , 6d, general account, was passed loi payment.
