KARAMEA, This Day. While crossing the bar outward at 2 p.m. yesterday, the Wairau damaged her, rudder, and anchored one mile outside. The Defender, which was passing, offered assistance, but the Wairau thought it unnecessary, and the Defender entered port. The Wairau, at 9 a.m. to*day, is still at anchor outside, it i& .thought that the crew are effecting temporary repairs prior to procedintf to Westport for going on the hard. The bar is good at present. The Defender sounded eleven f.eet 2£ hoars after full tide.
