OPPOSED TO A STRIKE. LABOUR M.P.'S OPINION,

(Received January 10, 10.40 a.m.) LONDON 9th January. , Mr 1 . John Wilson, Labour M.P. for Mid-Durham, states that ho is opposed to a strike, as being a brutal method of settling the dispute. A strike would be a matter of calamity to the whole community in addition to its effect on the coal trade. TO SECURE A SETTLEMENT. COTTON OPERATIVES 1 RESOLUTION. LONDON, 9th January. A mass meeting at Accrington adopted a resolution declaring that while tho cotton operatives should be members- of the union, the question of non-unioniate should not be made the cans© of a sta-ike. It was de'eided to request the leaders to secure a settlement. CONFERENCES ADJOURNED. (Received January 10, 11 a.m.) 1 LONDON, 9th January. The conferences arranged by Sir G. R. Henceforth they would require unionist* and non-unionists to work together. BIGHT HOUR DAY WANTED BY POSTMEN. - LONDON, 9th January. The Postmen's Federation have formulated .demands for submision to a Select Committee. They include an eight hours' day, in* creased recognition of unions, a wages standard based on the codt of living, and the restoration of civil rights.
